ReKindle Katif

Ariella Caplan (L-JobKatif) & Shaya Zukerman (R-Midreshet Moriah) prepare for the event.

Seven extremely dedicated and wonderful students from Midreshet Moriah decided that they wanted to make a difference during their second year in Israel. It was with this desire that they created a special Scholarship Fund to help university aged/college-bound young adults between ages 20-27 afford to study in one-year courses or to finish their last year of university, when they might not otherwise be able to.

As a kick-off to the fund, these girls coordinated “ReKindle Katif”-an evening of comedy, prizes and inspiration! The event took place on Monday, January 2nd, 2012 at Yeshiva University in Bayit Vegan.

“ReKindle Katif” opened with time for the guests to browse the prizes for the Chinese Auction, with items donated by many different businesses all across Israel as well as time to enjoy the delicious refreshments provided by Yeshiva University. With everyone at last seated, they played JobKatif’s video, followed by a variety of speakers: Mrs. Leora Bednarsh (Eim Bayit of Midreshet Moriah), Ariella Caplan (JobKatif), Rachel Saperstein (former Gush Katif resident) and Blanche Haddad (Shana Bet, Midreshet Moriah). Then, Ayelet the Kosher Komic performed her stand-up comedy, leaving the audience in tears from laughing so hard!!

At last came the moment everyone had been waiting for: the ticket drawing to see who would win the Chinese Auction and the grand prize: an Amazon Kindle! Everyone cheered on their friends who won and had so much fun!

All together the event raised 6,000 NIS and we are so grateful to these incredible girls!
